INSEC facilitator Poudel Dies in a Road Accident

INSEC has strongly demanded the regulatory body to ensure action against the perpetrators of the death of INSEC Kapilvastu facilitator Nandaram Poudel in a road accident on April 13.

Poudel, a resident of Buddhabhumi Municipality-4, Kapilvastu District, has been involved in the INSEC campaign for more than two decades and INSEC family is saddened by the news of his death.

In a statement issued by INSEC Chairperson Dr. Indira Shrestha on April 14 said, “In this hour of grief, we express our heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Poudel.”

According to a statement issued by INSEC, he has been instrumental in documenting the lives of civilians and human rights violations during the 10-year-long armed conflict.

“He has been instrumental in the rehabilitation of those displaced in the name of armed conflict and retaliation, justice for conflict victims and the transformation of the conflict through local peace committees,” the statement said.

Stating that road accidents are also one of the major causes of death in Nepal, INSEC has drawn the attention of the concerned parties to build a reliable mechanism to reduce the causes of unsafe highways, weak monitoring system and negligence of drivers.
