Letter of Condolence
INSEC is saddened by the news of the death of Nandaram Poudel, a resident of Buddhabhumi Municipality-4, Kapilvastu District, in a road accident on April 13, 2021. Poudel has been involved in the INSEC Campaign for more than two decades and currently working as an INSEC Kapilvastu District Facilitator. We express our heartfelt condolences to him and our sympathy for his family.
During the 10-year-long armed conflict, Mr. Poudel contributed to saving the lives of people and documenting human rights violations and abuse cases. His role has been contributory in the rehabilitation of those displaced in the name of armed conflict and retaliation groups, justice for conflict victims, and conflict transformation through local peace committees.
INSEC will always remember the contribution made by Poudel in the campaign of INSEC for the justice of the conflict victims and the work done for the protection and promotion of human rights. INSEC has lost one of its best and hard-working human rights defenders, and the family lost an important member.
Road accidents are one of the leading causes of death in Nepal. We draw the attention of the concerned stakeholders for the formation of a reliable mechanism to address the vulnerability caused by unsafe highways, weak monitoring systems, and negligence of drivers. INSEC strongly demands the law enforcement agencies to ensure adequate legal measures against the perpetrators of this tragic incident.
