Padmaraj Bohra, a member of the Union of Media and Journalists, currently employed at NTV, Kanchanpur, was beaten and injured by an unidentified group on 20 February 2023.
Bohra informed the INSEC representative that a group of masked youths pelted stones and glass bottles at him while he was strolling near his house on street 1, Mahendranagar Bazar, Bhimdatta Municipality-4. He suffered various injuries on his head, mouth, and other parts of his body. Mahakali Hospital referred to Dhangadi for treatment on 22 February.
The Federation of Journalists condemned the incident on 22 February, and Nepal Press Union, Kanchanpur issued a public statement on 21 February. The statement requested local administrations to arrest the parties involved in the incident and take action against them.
Inspector Bharat Giri of, the District Police Office, Kanchanpur informed that the victim filed a complaint at the District Police Office on 20 February. The police are in search of the persons involved in the incident is underway.
