During the Gen-Z protest, inmate Nikesh Shrestha, 24, who had escaped from Nakhu Prison, Kathmandu, on September 9, 2025, was arrested by police from Thori Rural Municipality–4, Parsa, on July 15, 2026.
According to Parsa Deputy Superintendent of Police Chakra Bahadur Malla, Shrestha was arrested while hiding at his own house in Thori. Shrestha had been serving a two-year prison sentence and a fine of Rs. 100,000 in a drug-related case. DSP Malla informed that on July 16, 2026, police handed him over to the concerned prison in coordination with Birgunj Prison.
