Judge Nirmala Subedi of District Court Chitwan has sentenced Tirtha Bahadur Shrestha, 32, of Bardiwas Municipality-9 of Mahottari District, to 10 years imprisonment in the charge of raping a 15-year-old girl.
According to the Registrar of the court Ishwar Acharya, the victim’s mother accused Shrestha of raping her daughter at Hotel Royal, Ratnanagar Municipality-1 Sauraha Chowk, on March 16, 2021. Her daughter had failed to return home after her coaching classes on March 12, when she reported her disappearance to the police. She then proceeded to file the complaint of rape on March 17.
Medical examination of the victim was conducted at Bharatpur Hospital on March 17, 2011. The police arrested Shrestha on March 16, 2021.
