Rape Guilty Sentenced to Life Imprisonment 

Dhan Bahadur Thapa, a 28-year-old resident of Jaimini Municipality–9, Baglung District, was sentenced to life imprisonment after the District Court found him guilty of raping a 30-year-old woman with a disability. According to Tikaram Acharya, Registrar of the District Court, the bench of District Judge Sita Sharma Adhikari, in its judgment delivered on 8 July 2026, sentenced the accused to life imprisonment under Section 291(1), (2), 3(a), and (7) of the National Penal (Code) Act, 2017. 

Acharya further stated that, pursuant to the same provisions of the Act, the Court also imposed a fine of NPR 700,000 on the accused and ordered him to pay NPR 200,000 in compensation to the survivor. A rape case was filed against the accused at the Baglung District Court on 7 July 2026, alleging that he had raped the woman on 14 June 2026.
