The District Court has sentenced 62-years-old Kashiram Tharu, a resident of Bardahawa, Kohalpur Municipality–2, with an imprisonment of 12 years and 6 months’ after finding him guilty of offence of attempt to rape of an 8-years-old girl.
According to Tirtharaj Acharya, Information Officer of the District Court, the bench of District Court Judge Deepak Kumar Dahal, in its decision on July 15 2026, found the accused partially guilty of the charges and sentenced him to 12 years and 6 months’ imprisonment, imposed a fine of NPR 350,000, and ordered to pay NPR 50,000 in compensation to the victim.
The victim’s side lodged a complaint at the Area Police Office, Kohalpur on October 4 2025, alleging that the accused had attempted to rape the victim on the same date. Police arrested the accused from his residence on October 4 2025.
The victim underwent a medical examination at Bheri Hospital, Nepalgunj on October 4 2025.
