The Palpa District Court has achieved a significant milestone in administration of justice during the fiscal year 2025/26, securing first place among district courts in Lumbini Province and second place nationwide.
According to the District Judge Hari Prasad Sharma Upadhyay, the court disposed of 987 out of a total of 1,222 cases, achieving a case disposal rate of 80.76 percent during the fiscal year. According to him, the effective management was made by prioritising timely justice, regular hearings, and close coordination within the court staff.
District Judge Upadhyay said that delays in delivering justice is equivalent to denying citizens of justice. The court has placed delivering justice in a timely, effective, and result-oriented manner on their top priority. He added that improvement in the court’s procedures, systematic management of judicial processes, and coordination amongst all the stakeholders has contributed towards positive outcome.
According to the court, at the Palpa District Court there are no pending cases currently specifically between the time period of 18 months and two years old. The court said this has led to an end to the long-standing practice of cases remaining pending for years and has created an environment where justice is delivered timely.
According to Keshav Parajuli, Registrar of the Court of the total 1,222 cases—including both newly registered cases and those carried over from the previous fiscal year the court resolved 987 cases. He noted that the court has 80.76 percent of case disposal rate which ranks among the best in the country.
Among all district courts in Nepal, the Kanchanpur District Court ranks first after disposing of 1,011 cases, while the Palpa District Court secured second place. District Judge Rajendra Singh Bhandari currently serves at the Kanchanpur District Court.
District Attorney Churamani Parajuli, said the Palpa District Court’s achievement is an example of a service-oriented, accountable, and outcome oriented judicial administration. He stated that the court has demonstrated capable leadership, planned management, and the dedication of staff can bring remarkable results within a relatively short period.
Meanwhile, the Palpa District Court organized a Press Meet on Monday to release its annual progress report for the fiscal year 2025/26.
