Police arrested Ajay Sharma, 24, originally from Uttar Pradesh, India, and currently residing in Jitpur, Banganga Municipality–1, on July 5, for allegedly defaming a 28-year-old woman through social media on June 28, 2026.
The survivor filed a complaint with the Kapilvastu District Police Office on July 5, 2026 under the Electronic Transactions Act, alleging that the accused had used social media to defame her.
DSP Ripendra Kumar Singh of the Kapilvastu District Police Office said that legal proceedings in connection with the case are underway.
