Dipak Chudaro, 21, of Madane Rural Municipality–6, Purkotdaha, Gulmi, currently residing in Tansen, has been sentenced by the Palpa District Court to 2 years and 9 months in jail for raping a 16-year-old girl.
According to Keshav Parajuli, Registrar of the Palpa District Court, the bench of Judge Hari Prasad Sharma Upadhyay on July 8,found the accused partially guilty and sentenced him to 2 years and 9 months’ imprisonment, imposed a fine of Rs. 25,000, and ordered him to pay Rs. 400,000 in compensation to the survivor.
The survivor’s family filed a complaint with the Palpa District Police Office on December 2, 2024, alleging that the accused had raped the girl on December 1, 2024. Police arrested the accused in Tansen on the same day the complaint was filed.
Earlier, on December 23, 2024, the bench of then Palpa District Court Judge Dal Bahadur KC had ordered the accused to be remanded in judicial custody pending trial. The survivor underwent a medical examination at Palpa Hospital on December 2, 2024.
