A teacher at Gurukul Academy in Tulsipur has been accused of ordering a student to beat a classmate as punishment, leaving the victim with a ruptured eardrum.
The victim’s family filed a complaint at the Area Police Office, Tulsipur, on July 3 against Chintana Dhital, 32, after Bibek KC, 14, of Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City–12, a Grade 7 student at Gurukul Academy, sustained a ruptured eardrum.
According to the victim’s mother, Kavita KC, Dhital instructed another student, Saksham Gautam, 15, to slap Bibek in class on July 2 after he failed to answer a question. During the incident, Bibek’s left eardrum was ruptured.
DSP Hem Prasad Parajuli of the Area Police Office, Tulsipur, said the boy informed his mother after his ear began bleeding. A medical examination at City Hospital, Tulsipur, on July 3, confirmed the ruptured eardrum, following which he was referred to Nepalgunj for further treatment.
Police said further investigation into the incident is underway.
