A complaint has been filed with the police, with the initiative of INSEC Koshi Province Office, Biratnagar, against a father accused of subjecting his seven-year-old son with multiple disabilities to cruel treatment.
Following the registration of the complaint, police arrested the accused on June 4, 2026 for investigation.
The accused, Dinesh Ram, 40, of the squatter settlement in Hansabahini Tole, Biratnagar Metropolitan City–14, had allegedly been subjecting his seven-year-old son with disabilities to cruel treatment.
After the arrest of the accused father, the child was rescued and admitted to Koshi Hospital for treatment.
The seven-year-old boy was born blind, deaf, and unable to walk. According to the child’s grandmother, Devi Ram, the boy’s mother had willingly married another man and left, while his father had fallen into bad habits and regularly beat his grandson.
The victim’s father, Dinesh, reportedly used narcotic substances and not only beat his son but also engaged in inhumane acts such as biting different parts of the child’s body.
After receiving information about the incident, in which the father allegedly worked as a daily wage labourer during the day and returned home under the influence of drugs in the evening to abuse his son, INSEC facilitated the filing of a complaint against him at the Area Police Office, Rani, on June 5.
According to INSEC Koshi Province Coordinator Manohar Kumar Pokharel, the complaint was registered through a joint initiative of INSEC and Saroj Nepali, Koshi Province Manager of the National Federation of the Disabled Nepal.
Saroj Nepali stated that the accused had severely beaten his son and inflicted serious injuries by biting various parts of his body, including the chest.
After receiving primary treatment in the emergency ward of Koshi Hospital, the child was admitted to the hospital’s Nutrition Department for nutritional care.
