Police have arrested Khyalmo Lama, 63, of Bhimeshwar Municipality-9 of Dolakha District, on the charge of killing his wife Rupa Chhetri Lama, 47, of Lalitpur Metropolitan-29 Harisiddhi. He was arrested on September 12, 2022.
On September 10, the victim’s relatives lodged a complaint at the Metropolitan Police Circle Satdobato informing that Rupa had been missing since September 1, 2022. Rupa is the third wife of the accused and they had married in the year 2015.
SP Sudhirraj Shahi of Metropolitan Police Range Jawalakhel said that a rotten dead body was found in the forest in Godavari Municipality-3 Phulchowki on September 10 after which the husband was arrested for the investigation of the incident.
According to SP Shahi, Gyalmo had confessed that they left home on September 1 and after a heated conversation, he tied a rope to her throat and suffocated her to death.
The Lalitpur District Court had extended the investigation duration for seven days and has remanded the accused to judicial custody.
The post-mortem of the dead body was conducted at Patan Hospital on September 1.
