The ninth village council fixed at Raya VDC has been postponed by the political parties for not distributing social security allowances by the VDC secretary according to local Bishnu Bahadur Shahi.
The meeting held by political parties on the issue of operating village council on December 17 has been postponed for indefinite period.
The VDC secretary Shahi had committed to distribute fund within a month so that the council can operate. The political parties have taken their stand to obstruct the council until the allowance is not distributed.
The fund has been already approved for distribution prior to Dashain however the VDC secretary has not distributed it yet according to the locals.
The VDC secretary had received Rs 9,43,200 from the District Development Committee on October according to acting local development officer Devi Aidi.
He added “whoever mishandles people’s fund will be liable for action”.
According to District Development Committee’s office, there are 127 senior citizens getting security allowances from the government.
