Following the discovery of the body of Sabita Kandangwa, 43, under suspicious circumstances in Laxmijharki, Urlabari Municipality-1, police arrested her husband Dil Bahadur Limbu, 46, on May 26.
Police arrested the husband for investigation after Sabita’s body was found on May 26 in a reed-covered area near London Bridge along the Bakraha River in Urlabari Municipality-1.
Inspector Nabin Woli of the Area Police Office, Urlabari, stated that although Sabita had left home on May 23 following a domestic dispute, the family had searched for her on their own without informing the police. As the incident appeared suspicious, the husband was arrested for investigation.
After the deceased woman’s maternal relatives arrived, the body was prepared for legal procedures and a post-mortem examination was conducted at Koshi Hospital on May 26.
The victim’s family has alleged that the husband may not have informed either the police or the relatives because he could have killed her and disposed of the body.
SP Kabita Katuwal of the District Police Office stated that since the body was found in a decomposed state, the actual cause of death, whether killed or otherwise, can only be determined after the forensic report is completed.
