Human Trafficking Convicts Sentenced to 15 Years’ Imprisonment

The Rupandehi District Court sentenced Sanu Thapa, 34, a permanent resident of Manpakadi, Suddhodhan Rural Municipality-5, currently residing in Buddhanagar, Butwal Sub-metropolitan-11, and Tika Kumari Sunar, 38, of Butwa Sub-metropolitan-2, to 15 years’ imprisonment for trafficking a 17-year-old girl by luring her with various false promises.

District Court Information Officer Padam Aryal said that a bench of Judge Suman Pandey, on June 22, convicted the accused and sentenced them to 15 years’ imprisonment.

Police arrested the accused at the Nepal–India border on April 21 and rescued the victim. The victim filed a complaint against the accused at the District Police Office, Rupandehi, on April 22, accusing them of the offence of human trafficking. The victim underwent a medical examination on April 21 at Bhim Hospital, Bhairahawa.
