Juvenile Sentenced to Reform Home for Two Years and Six Months

The Palpa District Court has ordered a 17-year-old boy to be sent to a child reform home for two years and six months after finding him guilty in a rape case involving a 10-year-old girl.

A bench led by Judge Hari Prasad Sharma Upadhyay on June 3 issued the verdict, directing that the accused be kept in a child reform home in Bhairahawa for two years and six months. The court also ordered that he remain under the supervision of his guardians at home for an additional two years and six months, along with a fine of Rs. 466,666 and compensation of Rs. 65,000 to the victim, according to court official Keshav Parajuli.

The victim’s family had filed a complaint with the District Police Office Palpa on June 26, 2025, alleging the incident had taken place on May 16, 2025. Police arrested the accused at his home the same day the complaint was registered.

Earlier, on July 9, 2025, the court had ordered the accused to be placed in the Bhairahawa juvenile reform home for pre-trial custody. The victim underwent a medical examination at Palpa Hospital on June 26, 2025.
