Accused Sentenced to Ten Year Imprisonment for Crime of Rape

The District Court sentenced 31-year-old Anakbahadur Rai of Sagurigadhi, Rural Municipality-7, Mahabharat to ten year imprisonment for the crime of raping a seven year old minor.

Registrar Ujwal Neupane of the District Court informed that the bench of Narayan Prasad Parajuli on 3 June found the accused guilty and passed the following sentence. Additionally, the accused was imposed with a fine of Rs 5,00,000, Rs 20,000 to the victim relief fund and a compensation of Rs 50,000.

The aggrieved party filed a complaint at the District Police Office on January 22 alleging that the accused had raped the victim on the same day. Subsequently, police arrested the accused on 23 January and registered a case under the charge of rape in the District Court on 20 February.

The bench of Narayan Prasad Parajuli on March 9 sent the accused for pre-trial detention. The case was heard on February 21, April 1, May 16 and June 3.

The health examination of the victim was done at the district hospital on 23 January.
