Gen Z Youth Rise in Protest Across Major Eastern Cities, Including Biratnagar

Protesters marching from the hospital area broke through the iron barricades set up by police for security. When they demonstrated in front of the Provincial Assembly gate and tried to enter, the police charged them with batons. In Biratnagar, several protesters were injured after being chased and beaten by police, though the exact number of injured has yet to be confirmed.

Gen Z protesters in Biratnagar replaced the torn flag at the metropolitan city’s main entrance that had not been changed. In Damak, Jhapa, the Gen Z movement intensified in opposition to the social media shutdown, prompting police to fire warning shots. The police opened fire to bring the situation under control after youths attempted arson in front of the Damak Municipality office.

DSP Rajan Limbu of the Jhapa District Police Office stated that police fired warning shots after the Gen Z protest went out of control. During the clashes, stone pelting by protesters left some demonstrators as well as police personnel injured. Gen Z protesters also held demonstrations in Dharan, Sunsari.
