One Child Died and Five Students Injured in Hornet Attack

A child died and five students were injured by hornets stung in a forest of Tila, Triveni Rural Municipality–7, Rolpa on 21 August. The incident took place when students from Shree Birendra Secondary School were returning home through the forest route after school. According to the District Police Office, Mohan Pariyar, 7, of Dhakripani, Triveni Rural Municipality–7, died the same night while undergoing treatment at Rolpa Hospital, Reugha.

Among those injured are 14-year-old Sunita Pariyar, 10-year-old Shankar Pariyar, 10-year-old Manisha Pariyar, 8-year-old Kamal Pariyar, and 4-year-old Ashish Pariyar. According to Information Officer, Rohit Kumar Shahi of the District Police Office Rolpa, the injured were initially taken to Rolpa Hospital, Reugha, but due to their critical condition, they were later referred to the Rapti Institute of Health Sciences, Ghorahi, Dang for further treatment. Locals reported that hornets had been active in the forest area near the incident site for some time. The local administration has urged the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions for their safety.
