Bikash Rai of Hatuwagadhi Rural Municipality-8, Bhojpur and an inmate at Jhumka Jail, Sunsari, died during treatment on 20 August. He was reportedly rushed to the hospital on the morning of 20 August after suddenly losing consciousness. Jailer Subash Lamichhane stated that Rai had been in custody at Jhumka Jail since 8 April 2025 in a drug-related case because he was unable to pay the bail of Rs 25,000.
According to DSP Yograj Khatiwada of the District Police Office, Sunsari, Rai suddenly fainted at around 5:15 am on 20 August. He was immediately taken to Inaruwa Hospital, where he passed away during treatment at around 5:45 am.
