An unknown group attacked Kundan Mishra,23, a cameraman of Social Feed of Janakpurdham on 17 August while he was reporting at a cow shelter constructed by Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City-12 in Kuwarampur. Mishra stated that the group pelted stones at him inside the cowshed, breaking his helmet and injuring him. When inquired about the incident, the municipal police stated that the CCTV cameras at the site were not functioning.
Mishra has demanded action against those who obstructed his news reporting and attacked him. In recent times, incidents of attacks on journalists have been increasing not only in Janakpurdham but across Madhesh Province.
DSP Barun Bahadur Singh of the District Police Office, Dhanusha, said that although they have been informed about the incident, no formal complaint has been filed yet. He added that they are investigating the incident to find out who carried out the attack and why.
