The Rupandehi District Court sentenced Om Prakash Chaudhary, 21, of Bangai, Gaidahawa Rural Municipality-1, to 12 years imprisonment for raping a 15-year-old girl.
According to Padam Aryal, Information Officer at the court, the bench of Judge Ashok Kumar Basnet on July 10 found the accused guilty and sentenced him to 12 years imprisonment, imposed a fine of Rs. 500,000, ordered compensation of Rs. 50,000 to the victim, and directed that Rs. 20,000 be deposited into the victim relief fund. The aggrieved party filed a complaint at the Area Police Office, Lumbini on August 23, stating that the accused had raped the girl on August 22. The victim underwent a health examination at Bhim Hospital, Bhairahawa on the same day. The accused was arrested from his residence on August 22.
