The bench of District Court Judge Dhurba Raj Tripathi on June 22 sentenced Dhan Bahadur Limbu, 45, of Chainpur Municipality-2 to six months imprisonment for raping a 28-year-old woman with disability. Along with the imprisonment, the accused was also ordered to pay Rs 3,00,000 as fine and a compensation of Rs 1,50,000. The aggrieved party filed a complaint against Limbu at the Area Police Office, Chainpur, on 8 December 2023, accusing him of raping the woman on the same day. Police registered a rape case against Dhanbahadur at the District Court on 10 December 2023.
Subsequently, the bench of District Court Judge Tek Nath Gautam ordered the accused to be remanded in custody for pre-trial detention on 31 December 2023. The victim underwent a health examination at the Primary Health Center on 14 December 2023.
