The Sarlahi District Court has sentenced Rajiv Sahani, 28, of Chandranagar Rural Municipality-7 to four years in prison on June 9 for the crime of raping a 16-year-old girl. Registrar Gyanendra Dahal of the District Court informed that the bench of Judge Jiwan Kumar Bhandari found the accused guilty and issued the verdict of imprisonment along with ordering him to pay compensation of Rs. 40,000 to the victim.
The aggrieved party filed a complaint at the Area Police Office, Kesharganj on August 1 alleging that the accused had raped the minor on April 25, 2023. The police registered the complaint on August 3.
The health examination of the victim was done at Sarlahi District Hospital, Malangwa on August 4.
