Police arrested Sita Rishidev,40 of Gramthan Rural Municipality-6 on June 8 for the charge of killing Tilamaya Khadka, 89, of Gramthan Rural Municipality-7 on June 7. It has been reported that Khadka with an intellectual disability was drowned in the irrigation canal of the Sunsari-Morang Irrigation Project located in Gramthan Rural Municipality-6.
DSP Kopila Chudal of the District Police Office stated that Sita was taken into custody for investigating the incident. And the preliminary investigation has revealed that Sita killed Tilamaya for the gold earrings the elderly woman was wearing. Inspector Krishna Bahadur Khatri of the Area Police Office stated that the gold earrings were found buried in a pit at Sita’s house.
The aggrieved family filed a formal complaint against Sita, at the Area Police Office, Belbari, on June 8. The postmortem of the body was done at Koshi Hospital on the same day.
