A total of 158 disaster victims in Myagdi have not received the necessary relief amount from the government. The amount, which was reportedly distributed in coordination among the federal, provincial, and local governments, has yet to reach them. According to Chief District Officer Gurudatta Dhakal, only Rs 5,22,27,000 has been collected so far in the district’s disaster fund. An additional Rs 1,16,02,500 allocated for temporary housing has also not been distributed. As a result, beneficiaries from last year through the current fiscal year have not received the relief amount. A total of Rs 4,59,07,500 from the federal government covering both past obligations and the current fiscal year and Rs 2,05,50,000 from the provincial government are yet to be released.
Similarly, the number of beneficiaries, which was 129 until last year, has increased to 158 this year. However, due to the lack of funds, there have been difficulties in distributing the relief. Beneficiaries have not been able to receive even the second and third installments. A one-door system has been arranged for the distribution of relief in the event of any disaster. However, the lack of funds has hindered the distribution process. Chief District Officer Dhakal stated that the relief efforts have been affected due to the shortage of funds, and there is hope that the amount will be released from all levels of government. In the previous year, 129 beneficiaries were required to construct private houses: 37 in Beni Municipality, 17 in Raghuganga Rural Municipality, 10 in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality, 15 in Mangala Rural Municipality, 18 in Annapurna Rural Municipality, and 32 in Malika Rural Municipality. Currently, an additional 29 beneficiaries have been added: 6 in Beni Municipality, 16 in Mangala Rural Municipality, and 7 in Malika Rural Municipality.
Due to the lack of support from the local levels and the government, the relief amount has still not reached the beneficiaries. As a result, the affected individuals have not been able to receive relief and compensation on time. The stakeholders in the district are seen as needing to take necessary steps to ensure that the relief efforts reach the beneficiaries.
