Police arrested Dilip Kumar Marik, 25, on June 3 for the charge of attempting to kill his 23-year-old wife Renu Marik from Shambhunath Municipality-2 of Saptari and currently living in Damak Municipality-2, Jhapa. The aggrieved party filed a complaint at the District Police Office, Saptari on May 24 alleging that the accused attempted to kill his wife by giving her poison claiming it was a cough medicine during a domestic dispute on May 24.
The accused, who had been absconding following the complaint, was arrested from Damak Municipality-2 of Jhapa for investigation. DSP Khagendra Bahadur Khadka of the District Police Office, Jhapa, stated that the victim also informed the police that the accused had attempted to kill her by setting her on fire.
