The District Court sentenced Kushal Sharma, 19, of Khairahani Municipality–1 to eight years and 4 months in prison for the crime of raping a 15-year-old girl. The bench of District Court Judge Ramesh Gyawali on May 15 also imposed a fine of Rs 200,000, ordered compensation of Rs 100,000, and directed that Rs 13,000 be deposited into the Victim Relief Fund, according to Court Registrar Bishnu Acharya.
The aggrieved party had filed a complaint at the Khairahani Area Police Office on June 24, stating that the accused had raped the girl on the same day. The police arrested the accused on June 24. The health examination of the girl was done at the Bharatpur Hospital on June 24.
