The Supreme Court has cleared the way for the construction of the cable car in the Pathibhara Mukkumlung area by deciding not to continue the earlier interim order issued in response to the writ filed by the No Cable Car Group. Previously, the single bench of Justice Saranga Subedi had issued an interim order on 26 March 2025 to immediately halt construction work, following the writ petition filed by Yam Bahadur Limbu and six others on 20 March 2025 demanding a stop to the cable car construction.
The joint bench of Supreme Court Justices Nakul Subedi and Abdul Aziz Musalman on May 14 decided to discontinue the interim order issued on March 26, thereby allowing the construction to proceed. Following the Supreme Court’s interim order, the IME Group, chaired by Chandra Dhakal, had halted construction of the lower station at Kaflepati since March 26. The No Cable Car Group filed a writ petition naming 14 individuals, including Pathibhara Devi Darshan Cable Car Pvt. Ltd., as respondents.
Since the request to halt construction included a demand for an interim order, the court issued the March 26 order to maintain the status quo, considering the seriousness of the issue. To decide on the interim order, the Supreme Court summoned both parties on April 8. After hearing both sides, the court issued the May 14 order discontinuing the previous interim order.
