Police have arrested four members of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) from Biratnagar on charges of organizing a torch rally. Shambhu Bhattarai, Udesh Panta, Saman Chauhan, and Ajay Jha, members of RPP Morang were taken into custody from Roadshesh Chowk, Biratnagar, on April 20 in connection with the torch rally held on the same day.
According to the Morang District Police Office, the arrested individuals are currently being held at the Area Police Office. Police informed that RPP Morang organized the torch rally on the evening of April 20 in Biratnagar as a protest against the arrest of their party leaders in Kathmandu. The rally began from Jaljala Chowk and concluded at Hanuman Mandir Chowk. DSP Ved Prakash Joshi of the Morang District Police Office stated that the arrests were made because the protest was conducted without prior notice to the authorities.
