Police arrested a 15-year-old boy on 15 April for killing his 11-year-old sister. According to Lalitpur District Police Spokesperson SP Narahari Regmi, the accused had gone to the ground floor of Baburaja Awaale’s house to collect some clothes. As the lights had gone out, he lit a candle. When the candle went out, a dispute broke out between the siblings. During the dispute, the accused allegedly strangled his sister with a rope, resulting in her death.
Dr. Ravi Shakya, Director of the Patan Hospital stated that the body was found in a water tank on April 11 and the post-mortem was done on April 12. The family of the victim had been living in the same house until recently. The incident reportedly took place when the juvenile went to collect clothes that had been left behind after moving out. SP and spokesperson of the Lalitpur District Police, Narahari Regmi, informed that the accused is being investigated on charges of killing, and the Lalitpur District Court has extended his remand by five days for further investigation.
