Police arrested 52-year-old Jitan Mahatto Nuniya on 3 January for charges of killing his 22-year-old sister-in-law Sharada Devi Mahatto of Katariya Municipality-1.
During a domestic dispute on 8 January 2009, the accused fatally beat the victim and absconded after misplacing the body. On January 8, 2009, the deceased’s husband filed a complaint against the accused at the District Police Office Gaur. During the investigation, the body was found buried in a field on January 11. Inspector Umashankar Gupta of the District Police Office informed that the accused was arrested, and the district court has extended the deadline by seven days in the case under the charge of killing.
The post-mortem of the body was done on January 11 at the District District Hospital (now Provincial Hospital) in Gaur.
