The District Court sentenced 44-year-old Baburaja Thapa of Baghaiyatal Rural Municipality-8 to life imprisonment on December 13 for the crime of raping a 17-year-old girl.
Registrar Kapil Poudel of the District Court informed that the bench of Judge Dalluram Chaudhary on 13 December sentenced the accused to lifetime imprisonment along with a compensation of Rs 50,000 and a fine of Rs 700,000 to the victim.
The aggrieved party filed a complaint at the Area Police Office, Mainapokhari on 15 February alleging that the girl was raped on 13 February, 2023. Police arrested Thapa on 2 February. The health examination of the victim was done on 2 February 2 at Bardiya Hospital, Gulariya.
