Formation of Steering Committee in Lumbini for Implementing National Action Plan on Resolutions 1325 and 1820

The Lumbini Provincial Government has formed a provincial-level steering committee for the implementation of the second national action plan related to United Nations Security Council Resolutions No. 1325 and 1820 on women, peace, and security.

Lumbini Province Chief Minister Chetanaran Acharya has announced the formation of a provincial steering committee under the chairmanship of the Minister for Internal Affairs and Law. Chief Minister Acharya stated that the committee has been established to expedite the implementation of the action plan.

The Minister for Internal Affairs and Law, Adesh Kumar Agrawal, will serve as the chair of the provincial steering committee. The members include the chairperson of the Social Development Committee, the vice-chairperson of the Provincial Planning Commission, the secretary of the office of chief ministers and council of ministers , the secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law, the secretary of the Ministry of Women, Children, and Senior Citizens, and two conflict-affected women appointed by the steering committee. Additionally, the chief of the relevant division at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law will serve as the member secretary, as stated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law.

Chief Minister Acharya stated that the committee formed on September 29, 2024, will establish a national action plan implementation committee at the local level and work on addressing the issues of conflict-affected victims. With this, steering committees have been formed in all seven provinces.
