Police arrested 48-year-old Milan Bhandari from Uralbari Municipality-7 for allegedly beating 52-year-old Gangaprasad Kharel, the mayor of Uralbari Municipality. Police reported that they arrested the accused for further investigation after he mistreated the mayor while leaving the executive meeting of the municipality on October 28, within the municipal premises.
According to the police, the accused punched the mayor in the face after the mayor refused to provide immediate financial support that he had requested for a yoga camp. It is reported that Bhandari was present in the municipal premises during the executive meeting.
The Secretariat of the Mayor stated that the accused punched the mayor as soon as he was leaving after the executive meeting. However, the mayor did not sustain any injury from the attack.
