The District Court has sentenced 53-year-old Mohan Rai also known as Dhanman of Suryodaya Municipality-6 to eight years imprisonment for raping an eight-year-old girl. The bench of District Court Judge Keshav Prasad Ghimire on 2 October ordered the accused to pay a fine of Rs 3,00,000 along with imprisonment and compensation of Rs 2,00,000 to the victim.
The aggrieved party filed a complaint on 25 December 2023, at District Police Office alleging that the accused raped the victim on the same day . Police arrested Mohan Rai on 5 Jan 2024 and registered a case of rape in the district court.
The health examination of the victim was done on December 25, 2023.
