District Court Adjourned Rape Case in Morang

The District Court has ordered that the case related to the rape of an 18-year-old girl be adjourned. The bench of District Court Judge Chitra Bahadur Gurung on September 24 ordered the case against 40-year-old Mohammad Osim Uddin Shah, who is originally from India India, to be adjourned.

The aggrieved party had filed a complaint against Osim Uddin Sah at the district police office on 20 June alleging him of repeatedly raping an 18-year-old girl and the last time on March 8, 2022. The police registered a case of rape against the accused in the district court on March 6, 2023. However, the accused was absconded following the victim’s complaint. After the victim went missing on June 13, 2022, the victim’s father filed a complaint at the district police office to search for his daughter on June 14. During the search, the girl was returned home from India on June 18, 2022.

Information Officer Hem Bahadur Budhathoki of the Court stated that, according to the victim’s statement to the police, the accused fled to India. The case was subsequently adjourned due to the prolonged inability to arrest the accused following the registration of the case.

The health examination of the victim was done at Koshi Hospital on June 20, 2022.
