A 17-year-old girl studying in class ten of Shri Singhabahini Secondary School, Patharishanishchare Municipality-9 was injured due to the beating of her teacher on 29 August. The victim alleged that there was a dispute between students in the classroom during school time, and while resolving the conflict, teacher Pawan Rai beat the girl with a plastic pipe.
DSP Mohan Bikram Dahal said that the teacher was immediately arrested after the aggrieved party filed a complaint against the accused in the Area Police Office, Pathari on 29 August. The girl, who was injured in the arm was treated at a local health center on the same day. The police have reported that an investigation into the incident has been initiated.
Article 39(7) of the Constitution of Nepal states: “No child shall be subjected to physical, mental, or any other forms of torture at home, in school, or in any other places or situations.”
