A 27-year-old Vijaykumar Gupta of Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City-12, Bara District, has been sentenced to three years in prison by the District Court for attempting to rape a 35-year-old woman.
The bench of District Court Judge Dilprakash Sapkota, on July 12, 2024, found Gupta guilty and sentenced him to three years in prison and a fine of 30,000 rupees, according to Suman Pandey, a registrar at the District Court, who informed INSEC.
The victim filed a complaint with the District Police Office on February 5, 2024, alleging that the accused attempted to rape her on January 22, 2024. Based on the complaint, the accused was arrested on January 21. The victim’s medical examination was conducted at Kapilvastu Hospital, Taulihawa on January 21.
