A Woman’s Dead Body Found Inside a School’s Residential Building

A woman’s dead body was found inside a residential building of Arunoday English Boarding School located in Kakarbhitta, Mechi Municipality -6.

The police informed a 29-year-old Kavita Kumari Dhungana, a teacher at Arunoday English Boarding School located in Kakarbhitta, Mechi Municipality -6 a native of Lalbandi Municiplaity-2 was founded dead in a suspicious state.

The police are suspecting it to be a case of murder after the deceased’s husband, Ratan Gupta has been absconding.

Both the husband and wife were teacher at Arunoday English Boarding School since Mid-April 2026. They were permanent resident of Birgunj Metropolitan City-16. Ranjan Awal, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) stated the incident to be suspicious in nature.

Duga Bahadur Luitel, Principal of the School informed the school was closed for holiday from July 21 2026 and reopened on July 27 2026. On the day school was reopened both the teachers were found to be out of contact. Luitel, Principal further stated the door of their room was found locked, both the teachers lived in the residential building of the school.

Principal said, the couple was out of contact for the while day. He received a message from Ratan Gupta on July 27 2026 at 4:45 pm on WhatsApp.

The message stated he found his wife hanging in the room after which he shifted her to another room, he left as he was scared. He also made a request to open the lock and proceed further with the legal process.

The police said during the process of inquiry the locals informed they saw Gupta leaving the school carrying two bags on July 26 2026 around 5 pm in the evening.

The reason of death is still unknown. Police reached the crime scene they were informed about a dead body found inside the school.

The dead body is being inspected and the investigation process is under progress. Since the deceased’s husband has been absconding the police is suspecting it to be possibly a case of murder.

The body is currently in Mechi Provincial Hospital for the purpose of postmortem.
