A demand has been made for action against the person accused of assaulting Chhabindra Yonghang, a ward member of Hilihang Rural Municipality–5, on June 26, 2026.
According to the complainant, Manraj Suhang, a resident of the same locality, allegedly assaulted Ward Member Yonghang while he was engaged in disaster response and cleanup work.
The complainant alleges that the incident occurred while Yonghang was participating in landslide management and cleanup activities in areas affected by continuous rainfall.
Ward Chairperson Bir Bahadur Suhang of Hilihang Rural Municipality–5 issued a statement on June 27, calling for legal action against the alleged assailant. The statement said the incident took place while the ward member was carrying out disaster management work following heavy rainfall on June 18 and 19.
The injured ward member is receiving treatment at B & C Hospital in Jhapa after reportedly sustaining head and chest injuries.
