Corpse of a Child Found in Belaka Municipality, Accused Arrested

Kabita Sunuwar, a 15-year-old girl of Belaka Municipality-3 was found dead in a suspicious condition on April 5, 2022. Two were arrested for the accusation of killing Kabita.

According to SP Subash Chandra Bohora of the District Police Office, 19-year-old Binod Dhakal of Belaka Municipality-3 and a 17-year-old girl of the same place were arrested on April 5 for questioning. They were arrested from Belka Municipality-3 for investigation after they were found involved in the incident.

According to SP Bohora, the two were arrested on the basis of evidence that the girl and the deceased were classmates and had a telephone conversation regarding tuition on April 5.

The body of the girl studying in Grade 10 at Koshi Janata Secondary School in Belaka Municipality-3 Rampur was found in a suspicious condition in Yasoda Stream in Belaka Municipality-3 on April 5, said Inspector Tej Bahadur Dahal of Area Police Office Rampur.

Ganesh Basnet, the chairperson of the school management committee, said that the school had conducted tuition classes in the morning session targeting the SSE examination and the girl may have been killed while coming to the school.

Inspector Dahal said that there was no clear information about the injuries on the body of the deceased as police were conducting a search operation at the crime scene.

Locals of Belaka Municipality-3 are protesting in the area demanding action against the perpetrator and to guarantee security.

Although the locals had informed the police after seeing the corpse of the girl, based on the evidence, the police stated that it might be a murder.

The school administration has issued a press statement on April 7 demanding action against the perpetrators and the security of the students.

The press statement signed by School Management Committee’s Chairperson Ganesh Basnet and Principal Suryanarayan Shah has demanded to take action against the perpetrators.

Inspector Tej Bahadur Dahal said that the post-mortem of the body would be conducted after the initial crime scene report. According to the police, the victim’s head was smashed with a stone and there were bruises caused by hitting with glass.

The body has been taken to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan for post-mortem.
