District Court sentenced Om Prakash Chaudhary, 21, Gaidahawa Rural Municipality-1, Bangai to 12-years-imprisonment for raping a 14-year-old minor. Padam Aryal, Court Information Officer informed that the bench of District Court Judge Ashok Kumar Basnet, on May 6 sentenced the accused to 12 years in prison, imposed a fine of Rs 500,000, ordered Rs 50,000 as compensation to the victim, and directed Rs 20,000 to be deposited in the Victim Relief Fund.
The aggrieved party had filed a complaint at the Area Police Office, Lumbini on September 22, 2024, stating that the accused had raped on the same day. The victim underwent a medical examination at Bhim Hospital, Bhairahawa on September 22. The police had arrested the accused on the same day.
