The District Court has sentenced 23-year-old Ujwal Rai of Bhojpur, currently residing in Kankai Municipality-3, to seven years in prison for raping a 22-year-old woman.
Judge Umesh Prasad Luitel’s bench on 23 October found the accused guilty of the crime and ordered him to pay a fine of Rs 300,000 along with imprisonment , as stated by Registrar Kiran Kumar Singh.
Aggrieved party filed a complaint on June 7, 2023 at Area police Office, Anarmani alleging that the accused had raped the victim on June 6,2023.
Based on the complaint the police arrested the accused on June 8 and registered a case of rape in the district court on June 30.According to the order of District Court Judge Manoj Kumar Sribastava on July 3 the accused went to jail for pre-trial .The health examination of the victim girl was done on June 8, 2023 at Mechi Provincial Hospital, Bhadrapur.
