The District Administration Office distributed citizenship certificates to six individuals with disabilities, who were unable to travel, by reaching their respective wards. A team from the District Administration Office distributed Nepali citizenship certificates to six individuals with disabilities from wards 9 and 10 of Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality reaching their respective wards. Citizenship recipients include 62-year-old senior citizen Dhanmaya Rai, 52-year-old Sarimaya Rai, 53-year-old Ilas Rai, and 47-year-old Purnamaya Sarki from Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality-9, Aahale. Additionally, 53-year-old Raibahadur Rai and 52-year-old Lilamaya Rai from Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality-10 have also received their Nepali citizenship certificates.

Chairperson of Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality, Jitendra Rai, stated that all the individuals receiving citizenship were in a condition where part of their body was immobile. Although efforts were made to bring them to the District Administration Office for the citizenship process, their condition made it impossible. As a result, they had not been able to obtain their Nepali citizenship certificates earlier.

Chief District Officer Punyabikram Paudel stated that a team, including himself and Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality Chairperson Jitendra Rai, distributed citizenship certificates to six individuals with disabilities by reaching Chandi Bajaar in Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality-9. Paudel mentioned that citizenship certificates were provided at the ward or home level to individuals with disabilities to make it easier for them to access services. He also emphasized that no Nepali citizen should be deprived of government services. Purnamaya Sarki’s father, Krityaman Sarki, expressed happiness after receiving citizenship, as it allows them to access benefits such as social security allowances from the Nepal government.

Due to the lack of appropriate roads, residents from Aahale in Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality-9 and 10 have to travel through Dharan, Sunsari District to access services in the district headquarters of Dhankuta.
