National Human Rights Commission Urges to be Sensitive Towards Consumer Rights

The National Human Rights Commission has drawn attention to reports published in the media and various social networks by vehicles regarding charges exceeding the specified prices, despite the current situation caused by floods and landslides, as the festival season approaches. According to the commission, a press release issued on October 4 highlighted the concerns regarding the rise in prices of daily consumables and the lack of access to affordable air transport fares.

The commission stated that in this crisis, where the country has suffered significant human and infrastructural losses due to floods and landslides caused by recent heavy rains, it is also the responsibility of the business sector to support the nation by upholding commercial responsibility and alleviating the suffering of the citizens. Although the fuel price has decreased since a few days ago, the cost of transportation and consumables has not reduced. The press release further states that the government should monitor and regulate activities that violate consumer rights, such as excessive price increases, black marketing, food adulteration, and the sale of expired food during the festival season.
