Children and senior citizens are the ones who are  most affected by divorce in a family. Children consequently have to compromise with their wellbeing and educational opportunities.

Ganesh Shripali, a Social leader and Advocate stated that the rise in divorces can be attributed to several factors, including foreign employment, increased social freedom, societal openness, modernization, and so on. He added that divorce has adversely affected the formation of family and further impacted the children, senior citizens, and the chronically ill.

Parbati Kunwar, Deputy Chief of Isma Rural Municipality and Coordinator of the Judicial Committee, said that the problems regarding family disputes still reported in the judicial committees of local levels. However, since the divorce cases do not fall within the jurisdiction of the Judicial Committee they initially try to reconcile the matter. And if there is no reconciliation, the cases are sent to the court. In a society where relationships are  formed by choice, it is acceptable to legally get out of that relationship. Kunwar further stated that the judicial committee frequently receives complaints regarding broken relationships between husbands and wives. Even though it is affecting the society, nothing could yet be done because  of the lack of a proper plan of the local government.
