In Bahudarmai municipality, Ramnagari, a 28-year-old e-rickshaw driver named Ranjan Shah Teli, residing in Bindabasini, was assaulted on April 6 by police constable Kaushal Chaudhary stationed at the Bindhyabasini Police Post.

The incident occurred near Tilawe Bridge in Ward No. 19 of Birgunj Metropolitan Municipality on the morning of April 6. The accused policeman allegedly assaulted the victim and detained him after stopping the e-rickshaw.

According to the victim, Constable Chaudhary, on duty near Tilawe Bridge en route from Pokhariya to Veerganj, signaled the e-rickshaw to stop. When the driver failed to comply, the policeman purportedly used offensive language and physically assaulted him.

Furthermore, the victim stated that the accused policeman, upon boarding a bus and crossing Tilawe Bridge, continued to verbally abuse him near an oil tanker, questioning why he hadn’t stopped the e-rickshaw, and further engaged in physical assault.

The victim lodged a complaint against the accused at the District Police Office on the same day. Inspector Mohan Bikram K.C. from Pokhariya assured that clarification would be sought from the accused policeman, with legal action to be taken as per the law.
