In Ilam Constituency No. 2, the main election office for the by-election scheduled for the 27 April , 2024 has been established in Sadar Mukam. The inauguration of the main election office has been set for 4 April, as informed by the Chief Election Commissioner Janaki Tuladhar.
Commissioner Tuladhar, while establishing the election office at the Nepal Bar Association building, emphasized on conducting the elections in Ilam Constituency No. 2 in a peaceful and civilized manner. He also mentioned that all necessary preparations for the by-election are underway.
After the establishment of the main election office, candidate nominations will be registered starting 6 April, as announced by the main election office. The final voter list publication and distribution of election symbols are scheduled for Chait 27. The campaigning period will run from Chait 28 to Baisakh 12. The voting period has been set from 7 AM to 5 PM on the 27 April.
Following the demise of Subash Chandra Nemwang, the former Speaker of the Constituent Assembly and Vice-Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist), a by-election is set to take place in the vacant constituency. The District Election Office has informed that 20 political parties have registered for the upcoming by-election.
